San Diego 2018 - day 1
Bit of sleep on the flight from Kona to LA, then picked up another ridiculously sized SUV and drove 2 1/2 hours to Paradise Point, Mission Bay. O.K. It's not Hawaii, we may have to lower our expectations.
We grabbed a poor quality & over priced breakfast at the 'Barefoot Cafe' onsite and drove to Mission Blvd, where the surf, shops & cafe's looked good. We then returned to the resort and checked in - room very small, no kitchen, good wifi.
Had a swim in the salt water bay, joined briefly by a seal. Will see if he is there tomorrow.
Drove to TacoSurf, recommended by a lady on the plane over from Kona. It is run by a San Diegan local surf grandad. He has a collection of hundreds of surfboards from $1000 - $100,000 - food & boards very impressive.
Then we visited Southern Californian Comics just 10 miles out of town. It was an industrial unit jammed pack with comics old and new - lots only $1, some $12,000 or more. Elliot & Eve were in heaven.
Drove on to La Jolla to have pizza, whilst there looked at the pelicans and Sea Lions in the bay - awesome stuff.
Then home to catch up with some lost sleep.
